The National Park Service American Battlefield Protection program provided Southern Bancorp Capital Partners a grant of $55,000 for earthworks restoration and preservation services at Civil War Batteries A and D and for archaeological research at Batteries B and C in Helena- West Helena.

Taking back our neighborhoods and communities, which have fallen to decay and neglect, has long been a dream of Helena-West Helena resident and a city council candidate in the recent elections, Vivian Holder.
As neighborhoods have declined in population, the crime and violence rates in the neighborhoods have increased. Within many neighborhoods there are overgrown vacant lots and houses left to decay and fall to the ground.
