Strategic Planning survey open to all
By Donna Hilton
More than 600 Clark County residents have completed surveys for the county’s Strategic Planning Committee. The goal is for all citizens to complete the survey as soon as possible so the results can be tabulated, said Dr. Wesley Kluck, co-chairman of the Strategic Planning Committee.
As of Tuesday, 636 people had completed the survey. The results won’t be announced for a while, Kluck said, but it is important for everyone to voice an opinion.
“We want each and every citizen of Clark County to participate in this planning process,” Kluck said. The goal is to have all county residents attend the committee and sub-committee meetings and participate, he said. If they can’t attend the meetings, they can
fill out the survey.
The survey is being sorted according to zip code. Of the 636 persons who have taken the survey, two were residents of Okolona; Ouachita Baptist University, 267; Henderson State University, 2; Beirne, 1; Curtis, 3; Gurdon, 15; Whelen Springs, 0; Alpine, 1; Amity, 2; Arkadelphia, 324; Caddo Valley, 8 and other locations, 11.
Most of the responses were received over the weekend. “Since Friday, we’ve had 500 more responses,” he said Monday. An additional 35 surveys were filled out as of Tuesday morning.
The results of the survey will be tallied by Taimerica Inc., the company hired to facilitate the development of Clark County’s plan.
The questions on the survey call for the ranking of resources now available. Those taking the survey can choose whether each statement describes a strength, a weakness or “normal” situation. There is also a space for persons who wish to express no opinion on that particular issue. The statements are listed under 10 categories: Quality of Life; Education situation; Local government; Local leadership; Workforce; Transportation; Utilities; Real Estate; Capital and Marketing.
For those who have not yet completed a survey, it can be found on the county’s Strategic Planning Committee Web site at www.clarkcountyplan.org or use this direct link: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.asp?u=568472436765
