Glen Jones currently serves as president of Henderson State University, a regional public liberal arts institution located in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. When Jones was introduced as Henderson’s president in March 2012, he became the first African-American to serve as president or chancellor of a non-HBCU in the history of Arkansas higher education. An accounting graduate of Henderson State University, Jones earned his juris doctor from the University of Arkansas School of Law and a master of laws in taxation from the University of Florida College of Law.
Jones has held a number of positions in higher education throughout his career. These positions have included provost, senior associate vice chancellor for academic affairs and research, executive assistant to the chancellor for diversity initiatives, and professor of accounting.
President Jones currently serves on the Executive Committee of the Council of Public Liberal Arts Colleges (COPLAC) and as chair of the NCAA Division II Presidents Council. Jones also serves as vice-chair of the NCAA Board of Governors, the highest governance body in the National Collegiate Athletic Association.
Jones’ service to the community extends beyond higher education. He also serves as a board member for Baptist Health, the largest healthcare provider in the state of Arkansas. Additionally, Jones is a founding officer, past president and former board member of the National Association of Diversity Officers in Higher Education, the recognized authority for promoting inclusive excellence in higher education.
President Jones is married to Sharon Jones, his wife of 22 years, and they have two outstanding children, Camille, 17, and Cameron, 12. They are members of Second Baptist Church in Arkadelphia where he serves as a deacon and a Sunday school teacher.
