Five KIPP Delta College Preparatory and KIPP Delta Collegiate students were recently accepted into enrichment programs, scholarship programs and other schools.
“Due to their hard work in and outside the classroom, these students are receiving accolades around the state and nation,” said Sarah Cambelll, college counselor for KIPP Delta Collegiate. “We would like to recognize and congratulate all of our students for their achievements, and hope you’ll help us celebrate.”
Jukurious Davis, a seventh grader at KIPP College Preparatory School. Has been selected as one of 14 (out of 94 applicants) semifinalists for the KIPP Jack Kent Cooke process. He will have a phone interview on Wednesday, March 11th to try for one of nine spots to advance in the selection process for the national Jack Kent Cooke Young Scholars program.
Ninth grader Tyishon Weathersby has been selected to attend the Acxiom IT Careers Camp in Conway this summer. This is a 3-day residential program that will expose him to current careers in the IT industry.
Fellow Class of 2012 member, Galeesa Murph has been accepted into the Joseph Baldwin Academy at Truman State University. The Joseph Baldwin Academy is a highly acclaimed academic summer program that will allow Galeesa to take courses on the campus in Kirksville, Mo. With other high achieving students from around the nation.
Morgan Michel of the Class of 2001 was recently accepted to attend the Arkansas School for Math, Science and the Arts, a rigorous boarding school located in Hot Springs. She will enroll there this summer and will attend her junior and senior year.
Domonique Bragg, a member of the first class of KIPPsters (2010) was recently accepted to the Vanderbilt PAVE summer program and awarded $3,000 in financial aid. She is on her way to raising over $3,000 more so that she may attend and live on the Vanderbilt campus for the 6-week math and science program.
“These student accomplishments represent the capabilities we believe all of our KIPPsters possess with some hard work and dedication,” said Cambell. “We hope to publicize more good news as the spring progresses and more of our students receive acceptance letters to various summer enrichment programs.”
