COVID-19 Updates and Resources

The latest in health and safety measures for Southern Bancorp customers and employees.

A Message from Southern Bancorp

As we all work to fight the effects of this global pandemic, we want to take a moment to share with you some of what Southern Bancorp is doing to support our customers, our employees, and our communities.

First and foremost, the health and safety of our customers and employees are our top priorities, which is why we have temporarily closed our lobbies to the public, though we very much remain open for business. Our Drive Thru windows remain open to serve the majority of your banking needs, from making deposits, to cashing checks to opening accounts, and of course our ATMs are always available to you 24/7 for cash withdrawals or after hours deposits.

For all other business, we ask that you contact either your branch or your lender directly to discuss your needs over the phone or to set up an appointment in the branch. We have a wide variety of lending and financial resources available to assist you at this time, and we encourage you to visit with your lender to determine the best course of action for your situation. We are also available to assist you through our toll-free customer care number at 1-800-789-3428.

​We also encourage our customers to utilize online, mobile and telephone based banking services when possible (Southern Bancorp apps are available for both Apple and Android devices) and as always, you may call our toll-free number for questions or assistance (1-800-789-3428).

While location and service hour changes are not currently planned, we do encourage all Southern Bancorp customers to check this page often, as well as our Facebook and Twitter feeds for the latest information. You may also call our toll-free number for branch specific information.

Above all, we encourage you to take all necessary precautions to keep you, your family, and your community safe. We are closely following the CDC’s recommendations throughout the organization and encourage customers to do the same. More information can be found at CDC.gov.​

Our lobbies may be closed, but we are still very much open for business! Our commitment to serving you is the same as always. We’re still open to help you with accounts, loans, and any other questions like those below.

 

Is my money safe?

Absolutely! Not only is Southern Bancorp an extremely sound financial institution, but customer deposits are insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) up to $250,000 per customer.

 

Should I pull large sums of cash out of the bank right now?

You always have access to your money at our ATMs, however, we highly encourage you to only carry as much cash as you need for current expenses. Carrying large amounts of cash could make you a potential target for crime, and since your money is always available, it’s safer in the bank.

Free Tax Prep Services Suspended

In light of the current events, we are suspending VITA services at all Southern Bancorp locations until further notice. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. If we have already started working on your tax returns we will complete them. Please call the branch where your return is being prepared to schedule a pick-up time and for any questions you may have.You can find their phone numbers on the Locations page, or call our toll-free number 800-789-3428 to be directed to the correct branch. For those who still need their taxes prepared, MyFreeTaxes.com is a free and easy alternative for e-filing simple state and federal returns. Thank you for your patience. Alternatives to In-Person Banking

In an effort to support the health and safety of our customers and employees during the coronavirus/COVID-19 pandemic, all Southern Bancorp locations are temporarily suspending access to our bank lobbies, beginning Tuesday, March 17th. However, we remain open for business with several options for serving your banking needs.

 

Drive Thru and ATM Service:

Our Drive Thru windows will remain open to serve your needs. ATMs, as always, are available to you 24/7 for cash withdrawal or after hours deposits.

 

Web Banking/Mobile Banking:

We strongly encourage customers to utilize Southern Bancorp’s web and mobile banking options for your banking needs. Mobile apps are available for free download from either the Apple or Android app stores. Additionally, you can sign up for web-based banking at BankSouthern.com to manage your accounts. Call your local branch for set-up assistance (branch location numbers available at BankSouthern.com/locations).

How to Enroll in Online Banking

You can enroll in online banking from anywhere!

 1. Go to Banksouthern.com on your computer or mobile device.

Click on the “Enroll” link below the login section.

2. Fill out the basic information.

Click on “I have an existing account” at the bottom. Enter your bank account number. Agree to the Terms and Conditions, and then hit Submit.

3. Create a Web ID and Password.

Select three security questions. Hit submit. You will receive a confirmation message.

 

You are all set up! Now you can use the mobile apps, check your balance online, view bank statements, use the mobile deposit service, and so much more!
