COVID-19 Updates and Resources

The latest in health and safety measures for Southern Bancorp customers and employees.

A Message from Southern Bancorp

As we all work to fight the effects of this global pandemic, we want to take a moment to share with you some of what Southern Bancorp is doing to support our customers, our employees, and our communities.

First and foremost, the health and safety of our customers and employees are our top priorities, which is why we have temporarily closed our lobbies to the public, though we very much remain open for business. Our Drive Thru windows remain open to serve the majority of your banking needs, from making deposits, to cashing checks to opening accounts, and of course our ATMs are always available to you 24/7 for cash withdrawals or after hours deposits.

For all other business, we ask that you contact either your branch or your lender directly to discuss your needs over the phone or to set up an appointment in the branch. We have a wide variety of lending and financial resources available to assist you at this time, and we encourage you to visit with your lender to determine the best course of action for your situation. We are also available to assist you through our toll-free customer care number at 1-800-789-3428.

We also encourage our customers to utilize online, mobile and telephone based banking services when possible (Southern Bancorp apps are available for both Apple and Android devices) and as always, you may call our toll-free number for questions or assistance (1-800-789-3428).

While location and service hour changes are not currently planned, we do encourage all Southern Bancorp customers to check this page often, as well as our Facebook and Twitter feeds for the latest information. You may also call our toll-free number for branch specific information.

Above all, we encourage you to take all necessary precautions to keep you, your family, and your community safe. We are closely following the CDC’s recommendations throughout the organization and encourage customers to do the same. More information can be found at

We will be here to assist you through this unprecedented event, and we’ll be here when it’s over to help get our communities back on track.

Update on the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) for Small Businesses

As of Thursday morning, the SBA has notified lenders that the current appropriation of funds for the Paycheck Protection Program has been completely utilized. While we cannot say with certainty, we are hopeful that an agreement will be reached quickly on an increase in funding to the program. Because PPP funding has been exhausted, our recently received applications will not be processed by SBA; however, if additional funding is approved, we will work expeditiously to have those loans approved. We ask for your patience during this time as we await word from the federal government on the continuation of this program. If you have not applied but would like to, we encourage you to continue compiling all necessary documents and information for the PPP program in anticipation of it reopening. We also encourage you to reach out to your members of Congress and urge them to act on this much needed increase in funding. Additionally, Southern Bancorp was recently added by President Trump as a member of the Great American Economic Revival Industry Group on Banking, and we are using this appointment to advocate as strongly as possible for additional funds, particularly for rural America. We remain committed to serving and supporting all of our customers through this difficult time.

All Bank Services: Available via Drive Thru or Appointment

Our lobbies may be closed, but we are still very much open for business! Our commitment to serving you is the same as always. We’re still open to help you with accounts, loans, and any other questions like those below.

Is my money safe?

Absolutely! Not only is Southern Bancorp an extremely sound financial institution, but customer deposits are insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) up to $250,000 per customer.

Should I pull large sums of cash out of the bank right now?

You always have access to your money at our ATMs, however, we highly encourage you to only carry as much cash as you need for current expenses. Carrying large amounts of cash could make you a potential target for crime, and since your money is always available, it’s safer in the bank.
