Joey Temples to lead banking operations

LITTLE ROCK, ARK. – Southern Bancorp announced today that Picayune native and veteran banker, Joey Temples, has been named City President. Temples brings over 30 years of banking experience and expertise to his new role in leading the bank’s operations in and around the Picayune community.

“We’re excited to welcome Joey to the Southern Bancorp team, and we look forward to the impact he will make in this community,” said Joe Ricotta, Southern Bancorp’s Regional CEO. “As a mission-driven financial institution, we strive to go beyond the traditional bank offerings and provide solutions that will help everyone in the community build wealth, and I know Joey will be a strong leader in this effort for Picayune and the surrounding areas.”

Temples began his banking career in Picayune in 1988 as a branch manager. He has since worked for numerous financial institutions and mortgage companies across Mississippi as a loan originator, area manager, and most recently vice president, all while building a wealth of knowledge that will now be available to Southern Bancorp customers. He graduated with honors from Picayune Memorial High School in 1984, and received his Associates Degree in Business Management from Phillips Jr. College in Gulf Port.

“I am very grateful for the opportunity to join Southern Bancorp’s wealth building team, and I am excited to lead its efforts in bringing economic opportunity to a place that I call home,” said Temples.

A Picayune native, Temples is active in his community and serves in leadership positions on numerous boards and local clubs. He is currently an active board member for the Exchange Club of Picayune and has served as club president for three terms. He also serves as Vice President of the Pearl River County Homebuilders Association. Temples is a past Secretary/Treasurer of the Greater Picayune Area Chamber of Commerce and a past member of the Mississippi Association of Mortgage Brokers. He and his wife Shonna have two daughters and four grandchildren.
