Jay Hartman was born and raised in Houston, Texas. He attended Prairie View A & M University where he received a BS degree in Electrical Engineering in 1989. Jay has also obtained a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Arkansas – Little Rock (UALR) in 1999.
Jay has worked for Entergy Arkansas for 36 years. He has been the Manager of the Major Accounts, Manager of Resource & Operations and Manager of Customer Relations. Entergy is the fourth largest investor-owned electric utility in America. Jay’s role currently is Sr. Customer Service Manager.
In his current role Jay serves as the Account Manager for the cities of Little Rock and North Little Rock. He is a member of both Chambers and servers on the board of North Little Rock Chamber. He is a member of the Camp Robinson/ Camp Pike Community Council. He is on the Board of P.A.R.K (Positive Attitude Reaches Kids) and is a recent past member of the Board of Visitors of UA Little Rock. Jay has also served as Vice Chair of the Elder’s Board at Second Baptist Church (John Barrow) and is currently serving on the Deacon Board. Jay has been a commissioner on the Central Arkansas Water Board for 20 years (since 2005). Jay is also a member of Leadership Greater Little Rock Class XVl and an active member of the LR Engineers Club – Past President 1996. Jay was also named by Arkansas Business in 2003 as one of their 40 under 40 business leaders. Jay was named to the listing of the Most Distinguished Black College and University Graduates by U.S. Black Engineer & Information Technology magazine (2004). He was also listed as one of the Distinguished Alumni Graduates of Prairie View A&M University. Jay was presented the President’s award by the University of Arkansas – Little Rock in 2009 for his work with the University.
Jay is an active member of the Pi Omicron Graduate Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. where he is an International Life Member and a District Life Member and the current Chair of the chapters Annual Omega Prostate Cancer 5K Run/ Walk. Proceeds from the event are given to the Arkansas Prostate Cancer Foundation and Omegas of Greater Little Rock Foundation for scholarships for Highschool students. Jay actively supports many of the community events that are sponsored by the chapter.
Jay has been married to Exa Hartman for 33 years. Exa is also an engineer with the Corps of Engineers and proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., and they have two children, Jay (30) & Janae (24). Jay’s hobbies include golf, riding Harley motorcycles and traveling.
