Jay Hartman was born and raised in Houston, Texas. He attended Prairie View A & M University where he received a BS degree in Electrical Engineering in 1989. Jay has also obtained a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Arkansas – Little Rock (UALR) in 1999.
Jay has worked for Entergy Arkansas for 36 years in the areas of Customer Service and Distribution Engineering. He has been the Manager of Major Accounts, Manager of Resource & Operations and Manager of Customer Relations. Entergy is the fourth largest investor-owned electric utility in America. Jay’s role currently is Sr. Customer Service Manager.
In his current role Jay serves as the Account Manager for the cities of Little Rock and North Little Rock. He is on the Board of P.A.R.K (Positive Attitude Reaches Kids) and served as Vice Chair of the Elder’s Board at Second Baptist Church (John Barrow) and is currently serving on the Deacon Board. Jay has been a commissioner on the Central Arkansas Water Board for over 20 years (since 2005). Jay was also named by Arkansas Business in 2003 as one of their 40 under 40 business leaders. Jay was named to the listing of the Most Distinguished Black College and University Graduates by U.S. Black Engineer & Information Technology magazine (2004). Jay was presented the President’s award by the University of Arkansas – Little Rock in 2009 for his work with the University and is a graduate of Leadership Greater LR – Class XVI.
Jay has been married to Exa Hartman for 34 years. Exa is also an engineer with the Corps of Engineers, and they have two children, Jay (30) & Janae (24).
